Saturday , July 29th, Bergen SEAS is hosting an evening cruise on the AJ Meerwald, New Jersey's own restored Schooner!
We will assemble at the Meerwald (currently located at Liberty State Park) at 5:15pm. The boat sails at 6:00pm, RAIN OR SHINE, so bring (or wear) appropriate clothing, just in case there's an evening chill, or that other kind of damp one so often finds on the water, called a 'deluge'. The club will provide soft drinks and water. Alcohol is permitted aboard, BYOB. Please, no red or rose wine, or colored soft drinks as they can stain the wood. While we eat, the Captain will fill us in on the history and workings of the boat. Those of you who have not over-indulged on 'less than soft drinks', and are up to it, may be permitted to assist the crew. Below decks, where the head is, is off-limits to passengers, so please take care of your business in the shore facilities prior to cast-off. We expect to be on the water for 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
DIRECTIONS From North or South on the NJ Turnpike, take exit 14 B. After the tollbooth, follow the signs for Liberty State Park. You'll pass under the Turnpike and go through a traffic light. After the light, you'll come ot a circle. Go half-way around the circle, and you'll be on Morris Pesin Drive. Down near the end, there are covered facilities and bathrooms near the Meerwald, which is easy to spot.
