All SEAS Basic Sailing Courses are taught by Red Cross certified instructors and are intended to teach the basics of sailing to those who have never been on a sailboat as well as those with some experience.

The basic sailing course consists of classroom instruction in which you will learn and actual Sailing experience at a local water body.

  • Sailing terms
  • Points of sail
  • Sail trim
  • Launching
  • Mooring
  • Rules of the road
  • Boating safety. 

All graduates receive the American Red Cross Basic Sailing Certificate, and will have gained the confidence, experience and knowledge to sail a boat.  

A textbook & use of SEAS boats is included in the cost of the course.

You must be in good physical condition and able to swim to take the course.
